Roger Rural, who came to writing quite late, after he moved from Denver to his farm near Fondis in 1989, is much younger now than he was then. A tall and melancholic man, he is often mistaken for a professional mourner. He works now as a reporter for The High Plains Rider and tries to make money raising chickens and swine. He authored the 2003 and 2004 Elbert County Fair Press Inserts and is proud of his woodpile, and the accomplishments of his children: Raul, now 14; and Rachel, now 8.
